『TECHNIC BEAT』 Interview

Part 4: The Story behind the Story
This time, we heard the story from the "TECHNIC BEAT" staff from the Planning Team and Shinji Hosoe who is known as "MEGATEN" from SuperSweep.

Part 4 is about the story behind the story of "TECHNIC BEAT".

Mihara was working on Tekken Force Mode of TEKKEN 4 (PlayStation 2) at the time of this interview, so he is not participating in this interview.
We were pissed that we were adjusting for what.
Finally, I would like to ask about the story behind the development. First, let me ask about the music.
Hosoe
"Märchen Maze" is gone... It was great...
Tsubouchi
For various reasons, I'm sorry.
I was talking with Mihara to see if we could do something, but this time we had to give up. He was disappointed too because it was Mihara's favorite track.

Then it was only unveiled at the location test?
Tsubouchi
Yes. It's like where did you go, right? We had a pretty good reputation among users during the location tests.
If it ever comes out in consumer, please include it.
Tsubouchi
The consumer version is still undecided. But then maybe Mihara will try. LOL
Do you have any other stories of mistakes during the development?
Tsubouchi
There were times when Mihara was extremely angry at us.
Takano, Mikawa, and I were given the task of coordinating the fight. When we submitted the proposal, he glanced and asked, "You really can coordinate this?" And we didn't understand what he meant at the time, but I was confident enough to say yes so we adjusted the way we wanted it to be.

But when we asked Mihara to watch the check, he showed a technique that can set the opponent one-sidedly within seconds. (cheap/cheesing)

He pissed that what the hell were we coordinating for. He said, "Don't think about the plan from your perspective alone. Look at it from the user's perspective too! We're kind of like a parallel to the users in a good way."
After that, we changed our minds, and then it was a perfect adjustment. LOL

I was told by Mihara later that he saw through the cheap/cheesing when he first saw the proposal. When I told him that he should have told us then, he said, "It won't be for you guys." LOL

Mr. Mihara told me that you argued about the game's difficulty level.
Tsubouchi
Um, yes. LOL
As I said in part 2, Takano and Mihara had trouble with that.

Basically, I set the table and decide the difficulty level, and then the three of us discuss whether the level is appropriate. But when we finally show it to Mihara, it flips over and comes back. LOL

But not in the case of "XEVIOUS". LOL
Mihara said, "This is 5!!!", but it's definitely 6! Still, he pushed for a 5 though. LOL
Well, Mikawa said "1" for everything. LOL
I asked if we are going to do a consumer and he said, "Why? We have TIX".
Determining the difficulty level is quite difficult, isn't it?
Tsubouchi
Mihara thinks that this is appropriate for TECHNIC BEAT beginners.
To be honest, I'm still not convinved in many ways, but he said that we are too good at it. LOL

Also there was a discussion whether to make it harder to die at the stage. It was like Mihara's opinion "no dying" VS our opinion "it should die if you miss". In the end, we decided to make it feel like it depends on the track.
Now about the consumer port that I'm wondering about...
Tsubouchi
We would like to! LOL
But I asked Mihara before if we are going to do a consumer and he said, "Why? We have TIX". LOL
At last, please give everyone a word.
Tsubouchi
There is a different way to play with TECHNICTIX, so please try playing it.

When the arcade version comes out, go to the amusement arcade, and if you couldn't find it, please say, "Please buy TECHNIC BEAT" to the staff. Thank you!
