"TECHNIC BEAT" PS2 Launch Special Interview
The Truth About the Release of the TECHNIC BEAT PS2 Version
This time, it's a special interview to celebrate the port of "TECHNIC BEAT" to the PS2.
They revealed the truth behind the scenes!
The company was moving in the direction of not releasing the PlayStation 2 version,
but we were sneaking in a port with the goal of "if we make it this far,
we won't be able to go backward", and he found it.

- This time, I would like to interview about the release of TECHNIC BEAT (PS2 version), but last time when I interviewed the arcade version, I remember hearing that you wouldn't be making a port to the PlayStation...
- Tsubouchi
- The company was moving in the direction of not releasing the PlayStation 2 version, but we were sneaking in a port with the goal of "if we make it this far, we won't be able to go backward", and he found it.
- -
- When was that?
- Tsubouchi
- It was July, so we were almost done with the porting process.
We've got found, so we submitted the specifications reluctantly, then we received back more pages of specifications in return. LOL - Mihara
- They were working on it when I was saying "(DoDonPachi) DaiOuJou, DaiOuJou".
I looked at it how far it is, and it looked almost the same as the arcade version but with more TECHNICTIX tracks.
Since we have TIX, I thought we don't have to have BEAT, but Tsubouchi said that he wants to release BEAT in consumer so I had second thoughts. - -
- Did you have a concept for the game once development officially started?
- Tsubouchi
- Umm, I think it was "just do it". LOL
- -
- With the PS2 version, it looks like a lot of different modes have been added.
- Mihara
- Yes. I would like everyone to try the Sudden Death Mode.
How far can you go in a mode that can be terminated by one mistake?
As for Puzzle Mode, I told them to put enough ideas and volume that can exist as a completely separate game in itself. Then, it's been to the point where they've made too much seriously. - -
- When did you thought of markers that vanish and move in Puzzle Mode?
- Tsubouchi
- I think it was when we finished making the arcade version of Beat.
- Mihara
- I honestly think Puzzle Mode was well thought out.
I even wondered why they didn't include it in the BEAT. LOL
Well, I thought I made a lot of absurd requests, but they responded to everything I said, so I'm not ashamed to say that it turned out great. - -
- How about the new mode called "Rank Certification Mode"?
- Mihara
- Sudden Death, Puzzle, and Rank Certification. There are reasons why we put these three in it.
The concept behind Sudden Death is the love for the characters and the tracks.
As for Puzzle, it's a test of the grasp of the TECHNIC BEAT system.
Rank Certification is based on how far and thoroughly you can get into the track and how can you use the characters' personalities.
There are three huge pillars this time around, so you would laugh if you conquer them all. The real hell will be waiting for you after you clear Sudden Death. - Tsubouchi
- If THAT comes after you complete all the tracks, you'll be in trouble. LOL
- Mihara
- The moment you complete all the tracks, something horrible happens.
Oh, but it's not like the second lap starts or anything. LOL
I was thinking about the second lap starting at double speed or doubling the number of second lap markers but didn't want to do it because our bodies wouldn't last. LOL
I'm trying to make it something that people can clear, so I'd like to encourage users to fight for it. Well, the first step is to get through all of Sudden Death, though. - -
- How is the development status now?
- Tsubouchi
- It's almost done. There's a new track that may surprise you.
- Mihara
- Mega-chan (MEGATEN Hosoe) and I argued about this track.
There will be 11 new tracks, so please look forward to it.
If THAT comes after you complete all the tracks, you'll be in trouble.
